SEO Basics – Are Your Meta Tags Missing On Your Website?

Meta TagsI always receive calls and emails from entrepreneurs who want to know how to improve their websites so that it will help them increase sales. The very first thing I look at is the meta tags on their website and 9 times out of 10 they are not filled in properly. Usually the same title and description is on every page of the website, and in some instances there is no description at all.

If your website is like this and you paid someone to create your site, you need to put your web designer in check! They are doing you a great disservice by not properly creating a title and description meta tag for each page on the website. Don’t be too harsh on them though, because most of them do not know anything about internet marketing and search engine optimization so they are not aware of the importance of these tags.

Yes, it takes WAY more than just having the correct meta tags in your website code to optimize your website properly, but this is one very basic step that many business websites are missing.

I created videos a few years ago in reference to this and these videos are still valid today… so take a look at them and apply what you learn to your own website:

Note: I no longer use Kompozer or Xsitepro to create websites -  I only use WordPress (wordpress.org). WordPress will allow you to easily add meta tags to your website (as well as all the other on page optimization elements).
